My parents first visited the Grand Canyon in 1973 when on a road trip from California to Santa Fe, New Mexico to attend the "Spirit of Zoetrope" film event. My mother told me that it really blew their minds - was almost impossible to take in the entire visita and to comprehend how old and how deep it was. As she said "the grandeur of the place was unlike anything I had ever seen before."
