"There is a drainage area along my path -- sometimes a creek -- sometimes a wash. My artist friends said I should call it a riparian habitat rather than a duck ditch. The area is constantly changing throughout the seasons. Sanitation workers clean it out to keep the duckweed and reeds from overtaking it. I always worry that the family of ducks which appear each year...young growing and getting older ... finally flying off ... will lose their home. But happily each year there are ducks. They always put a smile on my face."
